Captain Robert 'One-eye' Charnock

Royalist Captain - English Civil War

He gained his nickname after losing an eye during the English Civil War whilst fighting for the Royalists at the second siege of Lathom House. Following defeat, his property Astley Hall in Lancashire was seized and only returned upon payment of a £260 fine.
