Parliamentarian Colonel - English Civil War

A devout Parliamentarian who held several senior military and political positions under the Commonwealth. A signatory of the death warrant of Charles I he escaped prosecution as a regicide upon the restoration of the monarchy by fleeing to New England with his father-in-law, fellow signatory and cousin of Cromwell, Colonel Edward Whalley.
